On behalf of the Organizing Committee of XLVI ESNA Meeting it is our pleasure to invite you to Wieliczka near Krakow, POLAND.
Krakow, Royal City is a historical capitol of the Poland Kingdom. Nowadays, Krakow (web site: www.krakow.pl/english) is the main city and capitol of Malopolska region (http://www.visitmalopolska.pl) which is located in the south of Poland and has many tourist attractions.
The city of Wieliczka is located 13 km of the southeast of Kraków. Under the town is the Wieliczka Salt Mine (http://www.wieliczka-saltmine.com) – one of the world's oldest operating salt mines which has been in operation since prehistoric times.
Kraków's historic centre, which includes the Old Town, Kazimierz and the Wawel Castle (http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/29) and Wieliczka Salt Mine (http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/32) were already included on the first list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1978.
The organizers of the ESNA 2017 meeting are the Agricultural University in Krakow, Malopolska Association for Agricultural Extension and Scientific Centre for Biotechnology of the University of Agriculture in Krakow.
The history of agricultural studies in Krakow began in 1806 when the Chair of Farming was established at the Krakow Academy (the Jagiellonian University). During 1890-1923 the Agronomy Studies were part of the Faculty of Philosophy at the Jagiellonian University. The Faculty of Agriculture was set up in 1923 (the Faculty of Agriculture and Faculty of Forestry since 1949). This faculty was transformed into an independent University of Agriculture in 1953 (more historical information on the web page: http://en.ur.krakow.pl).
At present, Agricultural University in Krakow named after Hugo Kollataj educates about 11,000 students at 7 faculties and University Centre of Veterinary Medicine JU-UA in 24 major fields and above 60 specialisations.
Malopolska Association for Agricultural Extension (MAAE) was established in 1993. The main goals of the MAAE are: creation proper conditions for development of agricultural extension, and agricultural education; better using of intellectual and research potential of the University and research institutions.
Agricultural University in Krakow and Malopolska Association for Agricultural Extension were already organizers of the XXXVIII ESNA Meeting in 2008.
Following the decision of the General Assembly taken in Belgrade the XLVI ESNA Meeting is organized in Wieliczka - Krakow, and the common scientific activities will regard:
